Donna Carr
Donna is the "founder" of Godspeed
and sings lead & alto as well as playing rhythm
guitar for the group. She has penned many of the
songs on the Godspeed line-up, as well as the
title cut on the "Have Faith" CD. She has been
lovingly called the "Mother Mabel" of the group
by Godspeed's friend Dave Marshall. What a
compliment! Donna is married to Cliff Carr, the
Banjo player and is a sister to Jim Miller who is
always quick to point out that he has known her
"since they brought her home". The simple, yet
heartfelt style of singing that Donna has, shines
as a testimony to her early years of attending the
"old regular Baptist" church services with her
Mamaw in Breathitt Co. KY. It was there she first
heard someone "line-out" a song and fell in love
with how those wonderful mountain people
would just sing out with all their heart in humble
praise... simply... beautifully... with no musical
instruments, with no songbooks. Once in a
while, she'll "have to" line one out. Always, it's
straight from the heart.
Donna takes care of booking Godspeed for
singing engagements.
